Viveka Ichikawa (She/Her)

Life experiences can be overwhelming, and you may sometimes feel lost. Deciding to try therapy is a step toward seeking a new perspective to understand the world, people, and yourself. As a queer person of colour and an uninvited guest to this land, I have been working with individuals and families facing and living challenges associated with identity, settlement, family issues, mental health, substance use, relationship dynamics and forced migration.

I am passionate about supporting people in developing authentic self-esteem, understandings, and practical solutions to achieve their goals with an integrative approach with trauma-informed, strength/empowerment-focused, and mindfulness theories. My approach is collaborative, culturally/racially safe, and client-centred. I try to create a safe and empowering space for people to build hope in their life. I completed the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto and have been working as a registered social worker in Ontario also in Tokyo, Japan since 2014. As a native Japanese speaker, my sessions are available in Japanese as well.
