Elise Yoon (She/Her)

I believe that the challenges we face are inherently political. Internal struggles are connected to oppressive structures across generations. The behaviours and emotions we socially deem as problems are rather ways we’ve learned to survive and cope in an ultimately harmful world.

Healing is about learning to feel safe again after a lifetime of survival. In our sessions together, this could look like exploring internal and external barriers to boundary setting, reclaiming your agency, learning to feel your body, and connecting with community. We work together to address these barriers and bring you closer to your truest self. Our conversations are exploratory, non-pathologizing, and centered around your choice and needs.

I am drawn to the transformative change and depth brought through approaches like trauma-centered inner child work, Internal Family Systems, and Somatics, but also understand the value of everyday coping skills, which I draw from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.

My interest and focus is in working with queer and trans BIPOC youth as well as refugee and newcomer youth of all intersecting identities. I am familiar and comfortable with topics centering family dynamics, relationships, diasporic identity, and self worth.

I am an IFHP provider and covered by all insurances that accept a Registered Social Worker. Initial 15 minute phone consultations are free of charge.

If you are interested in working with me, I’d love to hear from you.
